International Alliance of Mental Health Research Funders (IAMHRF) welcomed the Esler Family Foundation as its newest member.

The Foundation supports changemakers working to heal minds and strengthen communities, with a strong focus on mental health as a foundation for opportunity and social mobility. Through its mental health portfolio, the Foundation prioritises services, research and education that reduce stigma and expand equitable access for underserved communities.

“Esler Family Foundation is thrilled to be a part of the IAMHRF family. As a clinical psychologist, I understand the vital need to prioritize mental health as foundational, impacting the ability of individuals and communities to thrive. We support mental health research to identify and scale effective models that ensure equitable access for all,” said Jeanne Lawton Esler, PhD, Co-Founder of the Esler Family Foundation.

Among the initiatives the Foundation supports is StrongMinds, which delivers free group psychotherapy in Africa to treat depression among low-income women and adolescents by training community members to lead therapy groups.
